Hornet baseball tops Athens, 5-2.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity baseball team picked up a cross-over NTL win Monday afternoon as they beat Athens, 5-2 in Wellsboro.

Wellsboro and Athens were tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning before the Hornets broke the game open with 2 runs in the inning, and added an insurance run in the 6th to pick up the win.

Junior Dylan Prough led the team at the plate with 2 hits and scoring a run. Senior Ben Shaw, Junior Cody DeHaas, Freshman Joe Allen, and Freshman Dawson Prough had the remaining hits in the game. Dawson Prough also had a RBI and drew a walk on the night.

Dawson Prough started the game on the mound before being replaced by brother Dylan Prough, who earned the win with two innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts. Junior Brandon Owlett picked up the save working a scoreless inning with one strikeout.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 4-1 (2-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24 as they travel to Wyalusing.
