Newman powers Athens past Waverly.

WAVERLY, N.Y. -- Luke Newman was 3-for-4 with a massive home run to lead Athens to an 8-2 win over Waverly on Saturday.

Athens scored four runs in the sixth inning to break things open, including a long-home run by Newman. Newman hit a blast to left field that cleared the fence, the 30-feet of grass and smashed a car windshield.

Newman had two RBI and scoerd three runs in the game.

Cody Jennings was 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored and Marc Felt had three hits and scored a run.

Matt Collins had two hits, with a double, and two runs scored and Ryan Kennedy had a double.

Joe Horn had a hit and an RBI and Daniel Joyce had a double and an RBI, while Gavin Stein scored a run.

Collins, Justin Reagan and Horn pitched, striking out nine.

Brendyn Stillman had two hits, with a double, and a run scored, for Waverly and D.J. Meyers and Gavin Bennett had doubles. Benentt scored a run and Dylan Cooney had a hit and an RBI, while Zach VanHouten had an RBI.

Tyler Croft worked six innings, striking out one and Mason Salsman and Devin Garrison pitched, with Garrison striking out two in an inning.

Tioga 9, Sidney 0

Parker Hendershot was 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI, racking up his 100th career hit in the process.

Pierce Hendershot was 3-for-5 with a home run and the brothers hit their home runs back-to-back in the seventh inning.

Mitchell Taylor got his second shutout of the week, striking out six and allowing four hits and no walks.

Taylor had two hits and an RBI and Jake Evanek had two hits and scored a run.

Jesse Manuel and Gabe Hoose each had two hits and scored a run, and Hoose had an RBI.

Tanner Folk had a hit and an RBI.

Tioga is 12-1 on the year and hosts Candor on Monday.

Sayre 3, Muncy 0

Nate Sweet threw a two-hit shutout, striking out five for the Redskins.

Sweet also had a three-hit day at the plate, while Matt Williams had a triple, a run scored and an rBI.

Luke Cowder scored two runs and Connor Hanafin had an RBI, while Jordan Rockwell had a hit.

Andrew Keller allowed five hits on the mound for Muncy.

CENTRAL COLUMBIA TOURNAMENT

Central Columbia 11, Wyalusing 0, 5 innings

The Rams got no-hit in the loss on Saturday.

Dominic Coombe struck out four in the five-inning no hitter.

Jon Morrison struck out three for the Rams and Scott Eberlin pitched 2/3 of an inning of relief.

Austyn Kesler had two hits, two RBI and two runs for Central and Justin Thiuierge had a double.

Bloomsburg 9, Wyalusing 6

The Rams scored six runs in the htird to take a 6-1 lead, but Bloomsburg answered with three in the bottom of the third and runs in the fourth and fifth to tie it. Bloomsburg then scored three in the sixth to win the game.

Holdan Hitchcock had two hits for the Rams and scored a run and Riley God scored a run.

Isaac Bennett had a hit and an RBI for Wyalusing and Dallas Saxon scored a run.

Ridge Williams had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Mike Wilcox had a hit.

Brandon Brown scored a run and Zach Bryun had a hit and an RBI, while Morrison had an RBI.

Bennett struck out one in three innings, Brown struck out two in two innings and Eberlin pitched an inning.
