Athens handles Sayre, 19-5.

SAYRE -- Luke Newman had two runs, five hits, including a home run, and six RBI to lead Athens to their five inning 19-5 victory over Sayre on Wednesday.

For Athens, Ryan Kennedy had three runs, three hits, including a double, and one RBI, Andy Rosenberger added one run, one hit and one RBI, Cody Jennings had one run, three hits, including a triple, and three RBI, Cory Stivason finished with two runs and one hit, Joe Horn added two hits, including a double, and three RBI, Daniel Joyce had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and two RBI, Matt Collins had one run, two hits and one RBI, Ethan Witherow scored three runs and Kaden Rude scored two.

For Sayre, Matt Williams had one run and two hits, Jordan Rockwell had two runs, two hits, including a double, and two RBI, Nate Sweet added two hits and one RBI, Connor Hanafin had one hit, Sam Wheeler had a hit and an RBI, James Esposito scored a run and Chris Ray added one run and one hit.

Joe Horn started the game for Athens. He pitched three innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits and struck out one. Joe Parshall relieved him and pitched the last two innings, allowing no runs on two hits.

Sweet started for Sayre. In one inning of work he allowed six earned runs on seven hits and struck out one. John Esposito relieved him for two innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on seven hits. John Cron pitched the last two innings for Sayre, allowing eight earned runs on eight hits and striking out three.

Wellsboro 7, Milton 6

After going to extra innings tied 4-4, Milton scored two runs to take a 6-4 lead in the ninth inning. Parker Mann led off the inning for Wellsboro with a walk, then Dalton Prough walked as well. Cam Tennis kept the rally going with an infield single to load the bases. Billy Lechler then grounded out but Mann scored on the play. With one out and down by one, Carson Davis hit a walk-off double that scored Prough and Tennis to win the game.

For Wellsboro, Prough had two runs, a hit and two walks, Cam Tennis finished with two runs and two hits, Carson Davis finished with two hits, including the game winning double, and two RBI, Johnny Rowland and Taynton Repard each had one run and one hit, Silas Wagaman had one hit and Mann scored one run.

Rowland started the game for Wellsboro and pitched six innings. He allowed three runs on two hits and struck out two. Davis pitched from the seventh inning on and allowed three runs on five hits and struck out two.

Canton 6, Towanda 5

Michael Smithers earned the win on the mound and had one run and three hits at the plate to lead Canton to their 6-5 win over Towanda on Wednesday.

For Canton, Brenton Landis had one hit and one run, Silas Binford added two hits and a run, Seth Robbins hit a double and knocked in a run, Taylor Acla scored a run, Dylan Wilcox had two runs and a walk, and Dalton Dietrich had one hit.

For Towanda, Keegan Kisner had a double, RBI and a run, Tyler Bidlack finished with one hit and two runs, Ryan Bartholomew finished with two walks and a hit, Ricky Smiley had one hit, Luke Tama added one hit, a sacrifice fly and three RBI and Shane Martin and Tanner Kunkle each had one run.

Troy Pierce started for Towanda. In four and two thirds innings of work he struck out two, walked one, and allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits. Lars Thomason relieved him and threw one and one third innings, walking one and allowing one run on two hits.

Byron Marnati and Michael Smithers combined to pitch for Canton, allowing five runs in seven innings of work.

Mansfield 8, Montoursville 7, 12 innings

Mansfield rallied from a six-run deficit in the win.

The Tigers trailed 6-0 going to the bottom of the sixth when they got six runs.

J.P. Shaw singled home Derrick Herbst in the 12th inning for the winning run.

Kipp Hillson had three hits, with a double, and a run scored and Shaw had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored. Dewey Wise had two hits for Mansfield.

Dinger, Brendan Hill and Dylan Williamson all had a hit, a run and an RBI and Herbst had a hit, a run and two RBI. Dylan Wesneski scored two run and had an RBI.

Logan Adams started and Hillson, Shaw and Dinger relieved, the four struck out seven. Dinger threw five innings of three-hit relief.

Brycen Mussina was 4-for-5 for Montoursville and he also pitched four shutout one-hit innings to start the game.
