Troy rallies past Wellsboro for second straight come from behind win.

For the second straight game Troy rallied in the seventh inning for an NTL win.

On Monday they beat Wyalusing 5-4, this time they scored four runs in the seventh to beat Wellsboro 8-7 Wednesday.

Troy led 2-0 after three innings with Wellsboro getting on the scoreboard in the fourth. Then in the top of the fifth the Hornets exploded for six runs to take a 7-2.

The Trojans cut it to 7-4 in the bottom half of the inning, which was the score when they went to the seventh.

In the bottom of the final inning Anthony Deitrick and Matt LaBadie led off with singles then moved up to second and third on a pass ball. Nate Martin then knocked the two in with a hit to cut it to 7-6.

Martin stole second then scored on a Tyler Williams double to knot the game up at 7-all.

Williams then advanced to third before scoring on a Brandon Zechman ground ball to the right side of the field.

Martin finished with two hits, including a triple, three runs and 2-RBIs while Williams had two hits, including a double, with 2-RBIs.

Zechman had a double with an RBI while Deitrick and LaBadie also had hits. LaBadie scored twice with Deitrick and Nick Call both scoring.

LaBadie started and went four innings to strikeout six while allowing five hits, six runs and two walks for the no decision.

Clark Jackson went the final three innings for the win, striking out four while allowing four hits, one walk and one run.

For Wellsboro Dalton Prough had two hits, an RBI and a run scored while Carson Davis also had two hits.

Cam Tennis had a double, run scored and 2-RBIs while Caleb Tennis had a hit with an RBI.

Billy Lechler, Silas Wagaman and Johnny Rowland also had hits. Brent English and Caleb Tennis each had an RBI while Taynton Repard, Wagaman and Rowland scored.

Davis started and went five innings to strikeout six while allowing four hits, four runs and three walks.

Repard went one inning, striking out two while allowing three hits and three runs.

Prough pitched 2/3-innings in the seventh for the loss.

Troy faces Line Mountain at the Shamokin Tournament Saturday.

Athens 9, Towanda 6

ATHENS - The Wildcats scored five straight runs late to pull out the NTL Division-I win Wednesday.

It was back and forth early on both teams scored a run in the first, two in the second and one in the third.

Tied at four the Knights scored two in the top of the fourth to go up 6-4.

Athens retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth with three runs, then added two more in the sixth to secure the win.

Cody Jennings went 4-for-4 with three runs and 3-RBIs to lead the Wildcats while Cory Stivason was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs.

Matt Collins had a double with a run scored while Marc Felt had a double with 2-RBIs. Daniel Joyce had a hit with an RBI, Ryan Kennedy had a hit with a run scored, Joe Parshall knocked in a run while Ethan Witherow scored one.

Joe Horn started and went the first three innings for the no decision, striking out two while allowing eight hits, no walks and six runs, three of them earned.

Felt went one inning, striking out one while allowing two hits.

Collins threw the final three for the win, striking out four while allowing one hit.

Towanda hosts Edison for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Cowanesque Valley 6, NEB 4

CV held on late to pick up the NTL Division-II baseball win Wednesday.

The Indians led 6-1 thanks to a 4-run fourth inning but NEB chipped away, scoring once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to cut it to 2-runs.

However, CV was able to escape, holding them scoreless in the seventh, for the win.

Kurtis Easton went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI to lead the Indians while Caleb Fitzwater, Chris Lingle, Wynn Doan and Jace Bieser also had hits.

Lingle scored twice while Fitzwater and Caleb Nunn also scored. Doan added an RBI.

Corey Wells started and went 4 1/3-innings for the win. He struck out three while allowing four hits, two runs, one of them earned, and three walks on 68 pitches.

Easton pitched 1 2/3-innings with two hits and two unearned runs on 17 pitches.

Fitzwater threw the final inning, striking out one on 18 pitches.

Garret Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and 2-RBIs to lead NEB while Roland Pyhtila had a double. Nate Watkins, Grant Allis and Derrick Newman also had hits.

Newman, Max Cooper, Pyhtila and Tyler Devonshire scored with Clayton Connor knocking in a run.

Ian Wilbur started and took the loss, going five innings to strike out five while allowing five hits, one walk and six runs, but only one earned on 93 pitches.

Allis pitched one inning striking out one while allowing a hit.

Sayre 13, Canton 0, 5 innings

Jordan Rockwell and Ryan Murrelle combined to pitch a 1-hitter for the Redskins as they continued their march through the NTL Wednesday.

The Redskins improve to 5-0 in the league with this win.

Rockwell went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI while Quinn Hanafin and Chris Ray both had doubles. Hanafin knocked in two runs and scored once while Ray scored twice and knocked in one run.

Sam Wheeler, Cam Wheeler, Nate Sweet, Murrelle, James Esposito and Jon Cron also had hits.

Sweet scored twice while Sam Wheeler, Cam Wheeler, John Esposito, James Esposito, Cron and Isaiah Firestine scored.

Sam Wheeler knocked in two runs while Jakob Ressler, Connor Hanafin, John Esposito and James Esposito each had an RBI.

On the mound Rockwell went the first three innings for the win, striking out seven and allowing one hit on 42 pitches.

Murrelle pitched the final two innings striking out three while allowing a walk on 35 pitches.

Ethan Landis had Canton’s hit.

On the mound Byron Marnati started and went four innings, striking out four while allowing four hits, one walk and four earned runs on 56 pitches.

Nate Deeghan went 2/3-innings to allow six hits, two walks and nine runs, five of them earned, on 46 pitches. He struck out one.

North Penn-Mansfield 13, Wyalusing 3, 5 innings

The Tigers got 2-for-3 days from Dylan Williamson and Derrick Herbst en route to their NTL Division-I baseball win Wednesday.

They only out hit Wyalusing 6-4, but they did force nine walks.

Williamson had a double with three runs and an RBI while Herbst had 3-RBIs.

Dewey Wise had a hit with 2-RBIs with Dylan Wesneski also getting a hit.

JP Shaw scored four times for the Tigers while Carl Dinger scored twice. Brendan Hill, Kipp Hillson, Joel Whitteker and Logan Adams also scored.

Whitteker knocked in three runs while Adams knocked in one.

Adams started and earns the win, striking out one while allowing two walks, four hits and three unearned runs on 82 pitches in four innings of work.

Hillson pitched the fifth, striking out two with one hit on 14 pitches.

Mike Wilcox had a double while Riley God, Chandler Brown and Brandon Brown also had hits.

God, Jon Morrison and Brandon Brown all scored while Cody Jackson knocked in a run.

Holdan Hitchcock was one of four pitchers the Rams used. He started and gets the loss, striking out one while allowing one hit, three walks and six runs, four of them earned, on 42 pitches in one inning.

Kyle Warner pitched the second, striking out one while allowing one hit, two walks and three earned runs on 35 pitches.

Mason McGroaty pitched the third, allowing three unearned runs and two walks on 22 pitches.

Dyllan Merritt went the final 1 2/3-innings, allowing two walks, two hits and one earned run on 37 pitches.
