Sayre, Athens baseball notch wins.

TOWANDA — A big seventh inning lifted the Sayre Redskins to a 7-3 win over Towanda in the baseball season opener for both teams.
The game was tied entering the seventh when Sayre scored four runs in the win.
Quinn Hanafin had two hits, with two RBI and two runs scored for Sayre and Sam Wheeler had a double and scored two runs.
Nate Sweet had two hits, with a double and two RBI and Jordan Rockwell had an RBI and scored a run.
James Esposito had a hit an RBI and a run scored and Jon Cron had a hit.
Camden Wheeler had a hit and an RBI.
Rockwell pitched 2 2/3 innings for Sayre and Connor Hanafin pitched 3 1/3, while Sweet pitched an inning. The three combined to allow six hits in the game.
After Sayre scored two runs in the top of the third, Towanda answered with three in the bottom half of the inning, keyed by a two-run triple by Luke Tama and an RBI double by Ryan Bartholomew.
Sayre got a run in the fifth and took the lead in the seventh.
Tama had the triple and two RBI and Bartholomew had a double and an RBI. Brayden Manchester and Tanner Kunkle each had doubles and Dawsan Manning and Brett Crispell had hits.
Lars Thomason, Kunkle and Tama scored Towanda's runs.
Manchester started and went four innings, stirking out four and allowing three hits. Tama struck out three and allowed five hits in 2 2/3 innings and Bob Farley pitched 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout and a hit allowed.
"We had one rough inning, unfortunately it ended with our demise in the game," Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. "First time out, I thought we played a pretty competitive first six innings. I thought Manchester gave us a good start. He had a kind of rough first inning locating, but he got out of it not giving up any runs and I thought he pitched well after that. I thought Tama threw well for us too.
"I was pleased with the way we came back. We gave them a two-run lead, committed three errors in the inning, then came back and jumped on Rockwell a little bit. Worked two walks and they changed pitchers and Tama came up with a big triple for us, followed by a double by Bartholomew. I was pleased with how the kids came back, just not enough tonight. I saw more positives tonight than negatives."
Towanda is at CV today, weather permitting.
Athens 3, Canton 0
ATHENS - The Wildcats scored runs in the second, third and fifth innings of the win.
Kaden Rude had two hits, with a double, and a run scored and Joe Parshall had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Ethan Witherow had two hits, with a double, and an RBI and Joel Maslin had a hit and a run scored.
Chase Minnick had a hit and Keegan Rude had two hits in the game.
Keegan Rude worked four innings on the mound, allowing two hits and striking out five and Parshall struck out four in three perfect innings.
Canton got hits from Brenan Landis and Camden Route.
Michael Smithers started for Canton, striking out one in 4 2/3 innings.
North Penn-Mansfield 12, Williamson 2, 5 innings
The Tigers pounded out 10 hits as they won their league opener in NTL baseball action Wednesday.
The win is NP-Mansfield's first of the season as they fell to Coudersport 13-9 in eight innings earlier in the week.
Four Tigers had multiple hit games: Dylan Wesneski (2-for-4, two runs, 1-RBI), Dylan Williamson (2-for-2, 2-RBI, one run), Dewey Wise (2-for-3, 2-RBI, one run) and Rhyen Wilson (2-for-3, one run). Williamson also had a double.
Kipp Hillson added a double with a run scored while Justin Kriner was 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI.
Noah Spencer and Alex Stein both scored and knocked in a run.
Spencer got the win, going four innings to strike out six while allowing two hits, one walk and two unearned runs.
Wise pitched the fifth, allowing one hit and one walk.
Andrew Hackett was 2-for-2 with two runs for Williamson while Ethan Shaefer went 1-for-3.
Hackett scored the loss, going 3 2/3-innings with four strikeouts, four walks, seven hits and eight runs, six of them earned.
SOFTBALL
NP-Liberty 14, Williamson 0, 5 innings
Savanah Doney threw a three-hitter, striking out 11 in the win. Doney added a double and two RBI for NP-Liberty.
Mariah Kshir had a 3-for-3 day with a home run and three RBI and Abby Heatley had three hits, with a double and a triple and an RBI.
Brooke Harvey had a hit and an RBI and McKenzie Heater had a hit and an RBI.
Delaney Colton had a hit and two RBI and Emma Williams had a hit. Riley Kotulka had two RBI and Sarah Swingle had an RBI.
Sarah Learn, Lateisha Peterson and Ella Durst had hits for Williamson.
NP-Liberty's game at NEB today is already postponed, so they next host Galeton on Tuesday.
