Wyalusing sneaks past Canton.

WYALUSING — It took extra innings but Wyalusing edged Canton 2-1 in NTL baseball action Monday.

The Warriors started off the scoring in the top of the first as their top two batters drew walks.

After a sacrifice bunt Cameron Bellows scored on a wild pitch.

It looked like Canton was going to make it 2-0 as Brendon Landis tried to steal home. He was thrown out, though, by pitcher Chandler Brown. Canton coach Bob Rockwell appealed for a balk but didn't get it.

That one run held up until the bottom of the sixth as Brown drew a lead-off walk. Conner Barton came in to pinch run and stole second. He would advance to third on a Jon Morrison bunt single.

Two batters later and with two outs Barton would score on an error off the bat of Shane Fuhrey to tie the game up.

Then in the bottom of the eighth Chase Houser drew a one-out walk. He would have Shawn O'Dell pinch run for him.

After an intentional walk a flyout was recorded but it allowed O'Dell to reach third.

That's when the Rams went back to the small ball as Fuhrey bunted to the pitcher Nate Deegan. O'Dell made a run for home and beat the throw to get the winning run.

Zach Bruyn and Kyle Warner both went 2-for-4 for Wyalusing while Brown and Morrison had the other two hits.

Brown started and went 6 2/3-innings for the no decision. He struck out seven while allowing two hits, five walks and one earned run.

Morrison went the final 1 1/3-innings for the win. He struck out one while allowing three walks and one hit.

Deegan was 2-for-3 with a double for the Warriors while Nick May also had a hit.

Byron Marnati started and went four innings for a no decision. He struck out one while allowing five hits and no walks.

Michael Smithers then came on for two innings of relief. He struck out one while allowing one hit, three walks and one unearned run.

Deegan went the final 1 2/3-innings for the loss. He allowed two walks and one earned run.

Sayre 11, CV 0, 5 innings

The Redskins stayed unbeaten on the season thanks to an eight-run fourth inning in NTL Division-II baseball action Monday.

Sam Wheeler was 2-for-4 with a double, 2-RBI and two runs and James Esposito was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Quinn Hanafin went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Connor Hanafin had an RBI, Jon Cron had a run scored and an RBI, Nate Sweet had hit with 3-RBI and a run scored.

Jordan Rockwell scored twice while Cam Wheeler and Ryan Murrelle also scored. Cam Wheeler knocked in three runs as well.

Esposito got the win, going five innings to strike out five while allowing four hits and four walks.

Nevin Stiles went 2-for-2 for CV while Dustin VanZile and Seth Sherman also had hits.

Stiles started and went three innings for the loss for CV. He struck out two while allowing four hits, six walks and seven runs, five of them earned. Owen Fitzwater came on for two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit, six walks and four earned runs.

Caleb Nunn went the final 1 1/3-innings with two strikeouts and one hit.

Athens 13, North Penn-Mansfield 3

Nate Kennedy doubled twice and recorded four RBI Monday afternoon as Athens beats NP-Mansfield in five innings in NTL baseball action.

Kennedy added three runs scored to his stat line to cap off a strong outing. Joel Maslin had two hits of his own, one of those being a double, and finished with three RBI. Cory Stivason added to the Wildcats' efforts with a hit and two runs scored and Keegan Rude chipped in with a hit and an RBI. Ethan Witherow reached the plate twice in the game. Aaron Lane had one hit, while Gavin Stein and Nick Watkins had RBI. Watkins added a run scored and so did Jared Williams, Kaden Rude, Chase Minnick, and Jeffery Reagan.

Keegan Rude took the mound for the Wildcats giving up four hits, three runs, and striking out five.

Dylan Wesneski, Kipp Hillson, Dylan Williamson, and Justin Kriner all bagged hits for NP-Mansfield. Hillson and Williamson batted in a run each, while Wesneski, Williamson, and Alex Stein were able to score runs on Monday.

Logan Choplosky started on the mound for the Tigers, pitching for two innings. He gave up one hit and five runs. Logan Gaverick relieved Choplosky, pitching for one inning and giving up three hits and five runs. Alex Stein finished up from the hill, giving up three hits and three runs.

Athens continues their season on Wednesday at Williamson, with a 4:30 p.m. start.

NP-Mansfield also plays at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at home, taking on Canton.

Wellsboro 9, Sugar Valley Rural Charter 0

The Hornets earned a non-league baseball win Monday.

Nine different Wellsboro players had hits in the contest as Taynton Repard went the distance for the win.

He struck out 10 while allowing four hits and two walks.

Silas Wagaman went 2-for-3 with three runs to lead Wellsboro while Johnny Rowland had a double.

Dalton Prough, Lucas Citrino, Billy Lechler, Jacob Trowbridge, Cam Tennis, Caleb Tennis and Parker Mann also had hits.

Trowbridge, Cam Tennis, Caleb Tennis, Repard and Mann also scored. Mann knocked in two runs with Citrino, Rowland, Cam Tennis and Repard also getting an RBI each.

Tioga 8, Waverly 5

Mitchell Taylor's 10 strikeouts helped Tioga get past Waverly on Monday.

Pierce Hendershot led the way for Tioga's offense with a double and two runs scored. Mitch Taylor had two hits, one run scored and two RBI. Derrick Barto added to the efforts with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. Derrick Gage had two hits and one RBI, while Brady Worthing had one hit. Damon Rockwell scored one run, Zach Hutchinson and Mason Booser had one hit and scored one run to finish off the offensive efforts for Tioga.

Taylor pitched 5.1 innings striking out 10, giving up four runs and four hits. Rockwell pitched 1.2 innings and gave up two runs and struck out two.

Colby Sidoni led the way for the Wolverines with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. Jason Morales had one hit, one RBI, and one run scored, while Bradey Roney had one hit and a run scored. Cole Jenner and Elijah Kraft had one hit apiece, Montana Davis had two RBI, and Jaylen McCarty and Chandler Whitmarsh each scored runs for Waverly.

Eithan McEnulty threw for 3.1 innings, had two strikeouts and gave up six hits, while Scott Woodring pitched for 2.2 innings and gave up five hits, with two strikeouts of his own.
