Williams walk-off hit lifts Redskins to victory.

2012 Sayre vs. St. John Neumann BaseballSAYRE - Down 5-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Redskins rallied for five runs to come away with the 6-5 victory on Tuesday.

In the seventh inning Dave Mendola led off with a double in the seventh and Nate Williams reached on an error.

Kyle Lake hit a liner and Mendola was doubled off at second, leaving the Redskins with just one out left and a runner on first down four runs.

Nick Skerpon then hit a single and Alex Lyons followed with a two-run double to make it 5-3. Jared Donovan singled in a run to make it 5-4 and Joe Kozemko walked and Cody Ketter was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Tyler Williams then singled up the middle to bring home Kozemko to tie the game and Ketter with the game-winning run.

Neumann had gotten a run in the first, but Sayre answered in the bottom half of the inning as Skepon drew a two-out walk and scored after Lyons singled.

Neumann retook the lead with three runs in the second and they added a run in the sixth to make it 5-1.

Sayre had their chances. A lead-off walk by Kozemko and a one-out walk by Tyler Williams had two runners on in the second and Lake reached on an error to lead off the third and Skerpon also reached base, but again they were stranded.

In the fourth Ketter had a one-out double, but he was stranded and in the fifth Lake and Skerpon had one-out singles back-to-back, but again Neumann worked out of trouble.

The Neumann defense helped them in the sixth inning as well. Kozemko led off with a double, but was thrown out trying to go to third on a passed ball. Ketter followed with a single, but Neumann got Tyler Williams to line into a double play to end the inning.

Lyons pitched for Sayre, striking out four.

Lake had a hit in the game and Skerpon had two hits for Sayre, while Lyons had two hits, with a double.

Donovan had a hit and Kozemko had a double, while Ketter had two hits, with a double and Mendola had a double in the victory.
