Canton tops Mansfield; Tigers, Athens tied atop standings.

It was a matchup between the Division I and Division II leading teams in the NTL as Canton took on Mansfield Wednesday.
Canton has captured the Division II title and they picked up a 9-3 win over Mansfield, who now is tied with Athens atop the Division I standings.
John Bowman, Garrett Wesneski and Chase Pepper combined on a two-hitter striking out 11 for the Warriors.
Pepper had two hits, two runs and an RBI for Canton and Trevor Route scored two runs.
Travis Butcher had two hits and scored two runs and Wesneski had a hit and two RBI, while Tanner Machmer had a hit.
Ryan Campbell had a hit and two RBI for Mansfield and J.P. Shaw pitched five innings, while Levi Adams worked two innings.
Mansfield is at Wellsboro on Friday.
LERAYSVILLE - Devin Patel had a home run as the Black Knights picked up the win on Wednesday.
Patel had two hits, with the home run and a double, two runs scored and an RBI in the win.
Nick Place had two doubles, a run scored and two RBI and Sawyer Strope had a three-hit day with a run scored and an RBI.
Jared Lines had an RBI and Dylan Bates had two hits and scored a run.
Richard Benjamin had a hit and an RBI, Ethan Barto had two hits and scored a run and Tristan James had an RBI, while Ty Johnson scored a run.
"It's just good to get the game out of the way and done," Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. "We put together a modest streak here and have two more games this week with Wyalusing tomorrow and Troy on Friday and hopefully we will be rolling into next week and get some momentum going into the playoffs."
Sexton was happy with the way the lineup hit on Wednesday.
"I was pleased with how Strope hit the ball tonight, with a multi-hit game for us," Sexton said. "It's good to get RBI out of Place. I'm pleased with Devin Patel. He put the barrel on the ball a number of times tonight. It's his first career home run and first multi-hit game too and they were both extra base hits. He worked real hard to get his stroke down and we are getting some production from him now. He's got a good bat and got legitimate power. If he starts barreling it up more he will be a real big help at the end of the season."
Johnson pitched five innings, striking out four and allowing five hits, getting the win to improve to 3-0. Lines pitched 1/3 of an inning and Bates got the save, working 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts.
"With Ty Johnston he struggled early on with his location, but once he got settled down he was able to pitch well. He gave up a run in the third and came back and got the next seven in a row. I'm pleased with how he found himself."
Towanda started the game with a pair of first-inning runs and Patel had a double and scored in the third. Towanda got runs in the fifth and sixth and Patel hit a solo home run in the seventh.
NEB got runs in the second, third and sixth innings.
Garrett Smith had two hits for NEB and Aaron Pifer had two hits, with a triple and a run scored.
Nik Geiser had a hit and an RBI and Bryan Ford stole a base, while Jeremiah Harvey and Brian Horton scored runs.
Horton went the distance on the mound, allowing 11 hits.
After Cody Jennings started for Athens, getting one out, Sam Perri pitched 5 2/3 innings of one-hit relief, striking out five.
Troy Stivason pitched one no-hit inning with a strikeout for Athens.
Dan Fisher had two hits, four RBI and a run scored for Athens and Nick Vosburg scored a run.
Zane Vargason had a hit, a run and an RBI and Stivason had a hit, a run and an RBI.
Stag Shadduck was 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored and Jon Kleiner had an RBI.
Luke Newman had a hit and scored two runs and Jake Shaffer had two hits and an RBI.
Daniel Joyce scored a run, Ben Rubert had two hits and an RBI and Matt Collins scored two runs.
Billy Barnes started for Williamson and Jon Daley and Colin Heilbrun pitched, striking out five combined.
Daley had a hit and scored a run, Matt Learn scored a run and Kyle Colegrove had a hit and a run for Williamson.
Troy Adriance had an RBI and a run scored and Daltyn Confer had a double and three RBI.
The Trojans scored six times in the third inning on their way to the win.
Kyle Schucker started on the mound for Troy and Derrick Keir started for Sayre.
Jarod Mattocks had two hits, with a double and two runs scored for Troy and Jed Wright scored a run.
Brandon Mattocks and Kyle Jackson each had two hits and a run scored.
Schucker had a hit and two runs scored and Brock Schucker had two hits, with a triple, and a run scored.
Mitchell Morse had two hits and Dane Smith had a hit and a run scored.
John Esposito had three hits and a run scored and Cuyler Kochin had two hits.
Jacob Wheeler, Matt Williams and J.P. Harbst had hits and Keir and Jay Green scored runs.
The Tigers scored seven in the first on their way to the win.
Peter Simmons pitched four innings, striking out four, walking one and allowing one hit. Jesse Manuel struck out three, walked none and allowed six hits in three innings.
Dakota Skinner had two hits and scored a run and Ryan Vergason had a double, a run scored and two RBI.
Carter Jackson had two hits, scored two runs and had two RBI.
Adam Layman had a hit, Tanner Folk had a hit, two RBI and a run scored and Manuel had a hit and a run scored.
Parker Hendershot had an RBI and scored a run and Simmons scored a run.
Tioga turned three double plays defensively.
Tioga is 10-0 on the year and hosts Newfield today.
Kyle Tinna had a home run, a double, five RBI and scored two runs to lead Wyalusing to the win Wednesday.
Dawson Otis had a home run with two RBI for Wyalusing and Isaac Bennett scored three runs, while Holdan Hitchcock and Jordan Salsman scored two runs each.
