Vargason's career day leads Athens to big win over Mansfield.

It was a game that neither Zane Vargason, or the Athens Wildcats, will soon forget.

Athens picked up a 26-5 win over Mansfield in NTL baseball action on Monday night, with Vargason going 4-for-4 with 10 RBI.

Vargason drove in six runs in the third inning alone and had a double and a triple in the game.

Vargason had a walk and scored a run in the first. He had an RBI single in the second inning. In the third Vargason had a three-run triple and added a three-run single as he drove in six innings in the one inning. Vargason added a three-run double in the fourth.

After scoring two runs in the first and four in the second Athens exploded for 13 in the third and seven in the fourth inning.

Nick Vosburg had two hits, with two runs scored and two RBI and Sam Perri had a hit, four RBI and two runs scored.

Luke Newman had a 3-for-4 day wiht a triple, three RBI and two runs scored.

Tyler Forbes had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, with a double, and Marc Felt scored a run.

Cody Jennings had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI and Joe Horn had a hit and an RBI.

Ben Burbert had a hit and scored three runs and Justin Reagan and Ryan Kennedy each scored two runs, with Reagan driving in a run. Tyler Secules scored two runs in the game.

Perri struck out none and allowed four hits in three innings and Felt struck out two in one inning of relief.

Jarrod Burd had a hit, an RBI and a run scored for Mansfield and Bryce Zaparzynski had a hit.

Kipp Hillson had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Carl Dinger and Ryan Campbell had hits.

J.P. Shaw started on the mound as Mansfield had five pitchers, combining to strike out three, in the game.

Troy 10, Towanda 0, 6 innings

WYSOX - Three Troy pitchers combined on a one-hitter on Monday night. Kyle Jackson, Chance Lantz and Isaac Havens pitched for the Trojans, striking out five in the game.

Brandon Mattocks had a pair of hits for Troy, scoring three runs and driving in one and Jarod Mattocks had a hit, a run and an RBI.

Kyle Jackson had a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored and Isaac Havens had a hit.

Kyle Schucker had a hit, a run and an RBI and Brock Schucker had a hit, while Dane Smith had a hit and scored a run and Collin Binford had two hits, a double and two runs scored.

Nick Place had Towanda's hit.

Ethan Barto worked three innings for Towanda, striking out one and allowing four hits, taking the loss. Braydon Manchester struck out two in 2 1/3 innings and Troy Pierce pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out one.

The Redksins scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally from an 8-6 deficit to get the win on Monday.

Jake Wheeler had a hit, two stolen bases and three runs scored and Jordan Rockwell had a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Nate Sweet had two hits, three runs scored and an RBI and Matt Williams had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored.

Connor Hanafin had a hit and two RBI and J.P. Harbst had a hit, while John Esposito had two hits and two RBI. Marshall Felt had a hit and scored a run and Ryan Murrelle had a hit.

Murelle started on the mound for Sayre.

CV got two runs from Caleb Fitzwater and Matt Freeman had a hit and scored two runs.

Tyler Melko had a double, an RBI and a run scored and Colton Vinluan had a hit and two RBI.

Brendon Bell had two hits and Nick Vasco had a hit and a run scored.

Chris Lingle had two hits and Wyan Doan had two hits and scored a run.

The Crusaders scored nine in the second, six each in the third and fourth and 12 in the fifth to get the win.

Matt Smtih had three runs scored for Notre Dame and Kyle Minchin had a hit and scored two runs.

Ben Cook scored a run and Parker May had two hits, with a triple, three RBI and five runs scored.

Cam Reid was 4-for-5 with four runs scored, a double and two RBI and Matt LaBadie had a double, four runs scored and two RBI.

Nate Snavely had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored and Andrew Kraeger had a run scored.

Chris Karam had a hit, two RBI and five runs scored and Gary Raupers had two hits, three RBI and a run scored.

Nick Clark had two hits, four RBI and two runs scored and Dan Sterns had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, while Iman McKay had a double and two RBI.

Collin Mustico struck out two and walked one in six innings for Notre Dame.

Peyton Miller had a 4-for-6 day with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored and Brendyn Stillman had a 3-for-4 day with three runs scored and two RBI.

Collin Traub had a hit, two RBI and four runs scored and Kyle Kinsley had a three-run triple with four runs scored.

Zac Saxon had a hit, four RBI and three runs scored and Mason Salsman scored a run.

D.J. Myers scored two runs and Nate Bennett had a hit, a run scored and four RBI.

Mike Girolamo had an RBI and a run scored and Isiah King had two hits, two runs scored and three RBI, while Zach Gingrich had an RBI and scored two runs.

Salsman struck out five and walked one in three innings of hitless baseball and Myers struck out one in two innings, allowing two hits.

Tioga 9, SVE 1

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. - Peter Simmons picked up his 20th career varsity win for the Tigers, striking out 12 and walking three, while allowing three hits and hitting one batter.

Tioga scored four runs in the third and rfive in the sixth to get the win.

Parker Hendershot had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs and Mitchell Taylor had two hits and scored two runs.

Gabe Hoose had a hit and scored a run and Lucas Richardson had a hit.

Simmons had a hit and an RBI and Jake Evanek had a hit, a run scored and three RBI, while Adam Layman had a hit, a run scored and two RBI.

Tioga is at Newfield on Wednesday.

Wellsboro 16, Coudersport 3, 5 innings

Wellsboro scored 11 runs in the first inning to get the win.

Dawson Prough had two hits, four RBI and three runs scored for Wellsboro and Nick Tremper had two hits, with a double, three runs scored and three RBI.

Nick Levindoski, Nick Webster, Caleb Tennis and Dalton Prough had a hit each.

Sam Moss struck out three in three innings and James Mundy struck out one in one inning, while Dalton Prough struck out two in an inning.

A.J. Sims had two hits, with a double and two RBI for Coudersport.

Wellsboro hosts Sayre today.

Canton 9, Williamson 1

Canton scored seven runs in the first four innings on their way to the win.

Trevor Route had two hits and scored three runs and Tyler Cole had two hits and scored two runs.

Bryce Cole had two hits and John Bowman had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Mason Martell and Ethan Landis each had a hit for Canton.

Clayton Tymeson struck out four in four innings and Martell struck out one in three innings.

Anthony Bastion had three hits for Williamson and Matt Learn had two hits, while Ryan Sargent had a hit.

Bastion started on the mound for Williamson.

Canton is at NEB on Friday.

Bucktail 9, Sullivan County 4

Stephen Macelhaney had two hits with two RBI, but it wasn't enough in the Griffins loss.

Jon Pedro and Taylor Baldwin each had hits for the Griffins.

Adam Szklanka started for the Griffins working 4 2/3 innings and Robert Hoffman pitched 1/3 of an inning, while Spencer Gordner pitched one inning, striking out three.
