JV Hornets Fall To Athens, 8-2

The Wellsboro JV Baseball team suffered an 8-2 loss to Athens on Monday following the dramatic conclusion of the Varsity game from April 21.
The Hornets took an early lead in the bottom of the 1st, however the Wildcats plated 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, and added 4 more in the top of the 5th, to build an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th when the Hornets scored their second run.
Wellsboro had six hits in the game, one each by freshmen Maddon Mascho, Reed Moyer, and Eli Nowak, senior Jacob Heckman, and sophomores Jorden Hines and Colton Reese.
Mascho and Reese scored for the Hornets and Moyer drove in a run.
Senior Dylan Copp threw two innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Freshman Logan Stevens pitched two and a third inning, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts and sophomore Reed Richardson threw two thirds on an inning.
Wellsboro (2-5) hosts rival North Penn-Mansfield on Thursday.
