Wellsboro Sports Hall Of Fame Set To Induct Zuchowski, Zuchowski, and Cruttenden

Three new members are set to join the Wellsboro Sports Hall of Fame's Class of 2026. The new class features the mother-daughter pair of Sharon and Hannah Zuchowski and Dick Cruttenden.

Sharon Zuchowski (coach) served as the head coach of the Wellsboro Lady Hornets Varsity Volleyball program for many years, helping guide the team through a successful era of growth and competitiveness. She took over the program in 2012 and quickly established a culture built on hard work, teamwork, and player development. During her tenure, Zuchowski compiled a 159-69 (.697) record and led Wellsboro to nine consecutive winning seasons and two District IV championships while developing several standout players that earned both district and state recognition.

Hannah Zuchowski (athlete) is a 2013 graduate of Wellsboro and, earning letters in four different Varsity sports and the 2012-2013 Shelly Taynton Memorial Award. As a junior she recorded 352 kills and 222 digs, then followed it up with 471 kills and 345 digs in her senior season as she led the Lady Hornets to the school's first District IV championship in 30 years and all-state honors. Zuchowski currently holds the school record for kills with 979. After graduating from Wellsboro, Zuchowski became one of the most decorated players in Keystone College volleyball history. She earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) honorable mention All-American honors twice, was a two-time AVCA All-Region selection, and a three-time First Team All-Colonial States Athletic Conference pick. She finished her career as Keystone's all-time leader in kills (1,537), digs (1,067), and service aces (211). Zuchowski is currently coaching at Lake Erie College.

Cruttenden (contributor), a 1956 Wellsboro graduate, was a two-sport athlete (basketball & baseball). After high school he attended Lock Haven Teachers' College, where he played both football and baseball. He graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor's in physical education. Cruttenden returned to Wellsboro and began teaching at the high school and coaching at the Varsity level. Cruttenden coached football for the Hornets for 20 years, served as the school's athletic director, and was a PIAA basketball official for 24 years before retiring from teaching after 33 years of service. Cruttenden was inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame in 1991, Cruttenden passed away in 2021 at 83 years old. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and attending sporting events.

The Wellsboro Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be inducted on Friday, September 25, 2026, at halftime of the Wellsboro-Troy football game.
