Hornet Offense Belts 16 Hits, 17 Runs Against Coudersport

Wellsboro capped off an undefeated week by exploding for 17 runs on 16 hits in a non-league game against Coudersport Saturday.
"Complete team win today with contributions throughout the lineup and in the field," head coach Kyle Smith noted.
After a scoreless 1st inning the Hornets' offense came alive with 5 runs. Coudersport plated their only two runs of the game in the 3rd, but then Wellsboro 12-0 run to end the game in the sixth inning.
Five Hornets had multi-hit games at the plate, led by junior Max Mascho going 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored. Sophomores Kody Enck and Gabe Cuneo both went 3-for-4 with Cuneo driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 of his own. Enck also drove in a pair of runs and scored once. Senior Marek Mascho and junior Coen Tennis were both 2-for-4 with Marek scoring three times and driving in two. Tennis drove in three runs and scored twice. Sophomore Griffin Morral (1-for-5), senior Jacob Heckman (1-for-1, 2 RBIs), and sophomore Reed Richardson (1-for-3) made up the rest of Wellsboro's hits.
Morral crossed home plate three times and freshman Gage Baltzley scored twice.
Max Mascho earned the win for Wellsboro on the mound, throwing a scoreless 2 innings and striking out 4. Baltzley threw three and two thirds innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits with a walk and 7 strikeouts. Cuneo also pitched a third of an inning.
The win moves the Hornets' record to 7-2 (6-1 NTL Large School Division). The Hornets return to the field to host Athens on Tuesday afternoon.
